About "For the People"
On this platform, it is my intention to write about the eventual establishment of a future civilization that is based upon a very different economic and social model than the current one, which is destructive of both the environment and citizen well-being across the planet. I have expressed my thoughts on these issues in articles and two previous books dealing with both the international 1 and national 2 aspects of that future ideal society. I have also made an attempt at an embryonic beginning by co-founding and funding for thirty years, the Global Ecovillage Network (https://ecovillage.org/), which comprises thousands of small, intentional communities linked across five continents, leading by example and sharing the values that could eventually become mainstream—a deep respect for nature, a focus on community, respect for other cultures, religions and races, and mutual trust.
In spite of my thinking about these issues for decades, it is only very recently that I have realized that the single, most important factor explaining our dysfunctional society is the delegation of the right to issue money—which should be the exclusive right of the public sector—to a very small group of private bank owners. It became clear to me, in almost an “aha” realization, that much of the current legislation by our elected representatives has to do with mitigating the negative effects on society of that one decision. This will be the theme of my first few posts under the banner “For the People”.
